David Byrne and Creative Time's collaboration this summer presents "Playing the Building" which is featured inside the Battery Maritime Building until August 10th. (This is the last weekend!) Just take the 1 train to South Ferry Station and walk around a couple corners. Voile! Sign a release statement, get down the hallway, and enjoy taking photos/ playing antique organs hooked up to building infrastructure x10 ASAP.
Hours are Friday-Sunday from 12:00PM - 6:00PM.
Here are a few shots from my visit last weekend. It's neat to check out while mentally high-fiving David Byrne for being slightly melodramatic, a bit professing, yet a cool genius all at the same time. No wonder he hangs in Brooklyn!
Afterwards, get on that ferry to Governor's Island and have a picnic on someone's abandoned front lawn. So worth it.
